Creative Challenge Club - CCC01 - A Baseball Birthday Card!

I am excited to participate in a new Creative Challenge Club organized by my friend, Wendy Cranford!

You are welcome to play along!  Create your own card inspired by the sketch and link it up here!

When I saw the sketch for the challenge, I knew this would be perfect for my friend's upcoming birthday as she is a huge San Francisco Giants fan, and this sketch led itself very well to baseball!

Here's the sketch:

Here's a little video (actually it's really long, I need to learn to be more concise!) with some tips on how to make this card:

Masculine Birthday Card

I find it very easy to make a cute and colorful card perfectly fit for all the femme women in my life.  What I find more difficult is making a card butch enough for men and not-so-frilly-women.  That's why I simply adore the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper - it's rich colors and structural elements are perfect for occassions where pink flowers will not do.

I love the sentiment from the Label Love Stamp Set - I also love that you can order this Stamp Set as a Bundle with the matching Artisan Label Punch and receive 15% off!

I also used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder on Core'dinations Cardstock to make a great background.  Check out the video coming tomorrow on how to use Core'dinations Carstock!

Sale A Bration Means Free Goodies!

My favorite time of the Stamping Year is upon us - Sale A Bration!  It's the most wonderful time of the year because with every $50 you spend, you get to pick out one free fantastic item.  It's a a glorious time of year, and we have just over one more month of it.

This year, Stamin' Up!  is doing something awesome for the new crafters among us - they are offering some bundles of products to get you started.  Each bundle is magically priced right around the $50 mark, so you get to pick out your freebie to go with it - so fun!

MDS Hybrid Birthday Card

I have a bit of a conundrum with my lovely boyfriend.  He is very good at picking out sappy, sentimental cards.  In fact, that's one of the things I really like about him and I so enjoy getting those cards from him.  But I cannot possibly let him go to Safeway and buy a sappy card when I could handcraft a beautiful card for him, now could I?  So we had to come up with a compromise...

I learned something very important through our design process - a birthday card for Mom cannot just be a birthday card, it has to say "Mom" on it, lest she forget...  I was lacking the perfect stamp for this occassion so I turned to MDS, Stampin' Up's digital design software. and created one.

I combined two sentiment stamps for my little tag.  The "Mom" stamp is from the Stamp Brush Set, Family Reunion.  The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from "Messages for Mom."  To sap it up a bit, I added one of the sentimental phrases from "Messages for Mom" to the liner of the card.

I used the same layout as this card, but mixed it up a bit with the colors and DSP.  I felt like the bright colors from the Gingham Garden DSP was more her style.
