Masculine Birthday Card

I find it very easy to make a cute and colorful card perfectly fit for all the femme women in my life.  What I find more difficult is making a card butch enough for men and not-so-frilly-women.  That's why I simply adore the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper - it's rich colors and structural elements are perfect for occassions where pink flowers will not do.

I love the sentiment from the Label Love Stamp Set - I also love that you can order this Stamp Set as a Bundle with the matching Artisan Label Punch and receive 15% off!

I also used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder on Core'dinations Cardstock to make a great background.  Check out the video coming tomorrow on how to use Core'dinations Carstock!

MDS Hybrid Birthday Card

I have a bit of a conundrum with my lovely boyfriend.  He is very good at picking out sappy, sentimental cards.  In fact, that's one of the things I really like about him and I so enjoy getting those cards from him.  But I cannot possibly let him go to Safeway and buy a sappy card when I could handcraft a beautiful card for him, now could I?  So we had to come up with a compromise...

I learned something very important through our design process - a birthday card for Mom cannot just be a birthday card, it has to say "Mom" on it, lest she forget...  I was lacking the perfect stamp for this occassion so I turned to MDS, Stampin' Up's digital design software. and created one.

I combined two sentiment stamps for my little tag.  The "Mom" stamp is from the Stamp Brush Set, Family Reunion.  The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from "Messages for Mom."  To sap it up a bit, I added one of the sentimental phrases from "Messages for Mom" to the liner of the card.

I used the same layout as this card, but mixed it up a bit with the colors and DSP.  I felt like the bright colors from the Gingham Garden DSP was more her style.

Stamp-A-Rama

I had sooo much fun on Saturday crafting with friends a Stamp-A-Rama event put on my awesome upline and mentor, Patty Bennett.  What is a Stamp-A-Rama, you might ask...  Well, it's a day in which several demonstrator's in Patty's group get together for a fun day of creating, chatting and eating!

We each prepare all the supplies for project and bring enough of everything for everone to make one of our projects.  Then we go around the room creating each other's projects and have an amazing time doing so.  It is so much fun to get to play with stamp sets I don't have and try out new techniques.  Maybe the best part is getting to walk home with 10 amazing cards when I only had to prep for one - such a great deal!  To top it off, we met at the Fuddrucker's in Concord and got to eat delisciously unhealthy food.  All in all, a fantastic day!

Visit my post from yesterday to see the project I took to the Stamp-A-Rama.  We'll be recreating it at my upcoming private class at my friend, Tara's.

Here's a great pic of two of my new Stampin' Friends, Maria & Tina, busy working on some of the cards:

Private Class at Veronica's

My lovely friend, Veronica is hosting a private class this Sunday.  She came up with the brilliant idea of sending out Valentines to all her loved ones instead of Christmas/New Year's/Season's Greetings cards.  I think it's a swell idea, all the merriment and you've given youself a few more weeks to get organized!  As such, she requested that I design some Valentines and we make a bunch in a class.  Here's what we'll be doing:

I also love Valentine's day crafts.  Which is a little bit funny since I've never really been into hearts or flowers... but there's something nice about having an excuse to craft and decorate after the hubbub of Christmas has come down.

If you are interested in joining us, please let me know and I can give you all the info.  We'll be meeting in Berkeley, CA and we'd love to have you join in the fun.

Here are the details:
Time: Sunday, February 9 4:30pm-6:30pm
What: 6 card and envelopes (2 each of the 3 designs above)
Cost: $15 or FREE with a minimum $25 product order
Where: Berkeley, CA

Can't make it?  Consider hosting your own private class!  I do all the prep and planning and you get all the hostess benefits.  (Which are extra great during Sale-A-Bration, now through March 31).
